Dear Mr. Langworthy,
This letter serves to express my interest in running for the 26th Congressional District vacated by the resignation of Chris Lee. I know there are many factors involved in the decision making process, especially in a 90 day election cycle, but with the dire circumstances that our country is currently in, and the consequences of the actions of our elected representatives in Washington, I believe there would be a way to run a candidate like myself who cannot self fund an entire campaign, and at no time is there a greater need for a candidate like myself.
In my previous communication with you I listed seven qualifications that my listeners, average Americans, want to see in a candidate. Since that letter was sent with 100% sincerity I will place myself under the scrutiny of those qualifications. 1) I have one hundred percent faith in God. I believe He has my plan all worked out for me and spend time in prayer each day asking Him to help me be a force for good in the world. I have lived my life helping anyone He has put in my path and there have been many. 2) I have copies of the Constitution in my car, bathrooms, purse and bedroom. They are highlighted. I will follow that document and hold up all legislation to it. 3) I will vow to read every word of every bill and be one of the voices coming from Washington expressing outrage when bills reach 2,000 pages with a 24 hour vote scheduled. 4 & 6) I am not a politician and have never been to law school. My brother is a lawyer with the federal government so I don’t think all lawyers are bad, however, in law school you are taught to examine all of the grey areas of everything. We need politicians with a very clear sense of right and wrong. I have that and am able to articulate it. Unfortunately most people who enter politics do it for a career, amassing great political power. This is not the way it was intended to be. 5) I have been married for 26 years. All happily! I have a wonderful and supportive husband and my children are almost all raised. 7) I do believe I could find a thousand people who would say that I am honorable and I wouldn’t have to pay them to say it.
In looking at the 26th district it is a map of my listening audience. Although I have not run for office I do believe I bring some name recognition with me. I have been on-air for six years and the people that do listen know exactly where I stand and I will call on them for help. I have an independent website with most of my shows archived for people who are curious as to where I stand on issues.
I believe I do have an edge on some of the pressing issues of the day, the most immediate is the healthcare legislation. We were, my husband and I, involved in our first malpractice trial and sat through every minute of it. It was six weeks long and there were at least seven lawyers in the courtroom. The run up to the trial lasted ten years! It is also on my website. This experience gives me a very unique perspective when Congress begins new healthcare legislation after Obamacare is overturned. I have a son who has suffered through a psychiatric disorder his whole life and is doing fantastic but it has not been an easy road. One in five Americans struggles with a psychiatric disorder and the issues affect us all. Four out of five of my children attended public schools through the 8th grade and a few of them had IEP’s. Children with special needs whether they be educational or physical, if they are taken care of and given the proper services early, do very well and become productive citizens. I have a son who is serving in Afghanistan and a daughter who will commission in two years as an officer. They did this on their own without any suggestion from myself or my husband. There aren’t many Congressmen and women who have a son or daughter currently serving and that is a shame. It definitely gives you a different perspective when discussing the ROE that have been imposed on our troops.
If you choose to consider me as your candidate, I will bring with me these qualifications and the tenacity and integrity to serve the people of the 26th district and vow to NEVER dishonor this seat. Whatever I may lack in personal fortune may well be surpassed in my connections with a wide spectrum of voters. I have been active in veterans and military issues, school board and town hall meetings as well as TEA Party and fundraising events for grassroots candidates meeting many people along the way. I believe the new model of politics that made itself evident in the last election is one of the future. I fit that model.
Thank you for your consideration as you go through your decision making process. Please keep in mind what is best for this district and our country.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Weppner
